For the safety of your children, ALL STUDENTS MUST REMAIN BACKSTAGE FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW! (Creative Dance, Tumblebear & SOME Hippity Hop students may purchase a ½ price ticket to go into the audience after Act 1. If a ½ price ticket is not purchased, the child will remain backstage with a volunteer during Act 2.) If you have any questions regarding this Agreement, please ask.

We are now taking a deposit of $35 per costume. There is a separate costume for each class that your child takes. THE DEPOSIT IS DUE BY OCTOBER 21st. All recital costumes MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY DECEMBER 14TH, AND we must have a Costume Order Form on file. Please come in and fill out the Costume Order Form by October 21st. Also, any account that is delinquent 45 days will be automatically closed and your child will be removed from class. You will have to re-register and pay a registration fee in addition to the late fees. So, please pay your tuition promptly. Thank you.

If you were on automatic payments last school year and would like to continue, please come in to sign a new automatic payment authorization form. We must have a new form on file for each new season.
Our 30th Anniversary Recital is scheduled for Sunday, May 27th. ALL STUDENTS, (EXCEPT FOR LITTLE STARS), ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RECITAL. The recital starts at 5:00pm and ends at 9pm. If you feel that you or your child can not stay for the entire recital, please do not sign them up for it.
For the safety of your children, we have a backstage recital policy. For your child to participate in the recital, parents must sign both our Recital Agreement and our Costume Order Form. These forms are designed to keep our fabulous recital running smoothly and may be obtained at the front desk. Students are required to remain backstage for the entire recital. If you have any questions concerning either the recital or the costume policy, please don’t hesitate to ask.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s dance training, studio policies, recital, etc, please don’t hesitate to speak with me! I am more than happy to explain things to you or to “fix” anything that might not be working. I am constantly trying to make things better here at Leggz and I am always open to new suggestions. I can’t be in all places at once, so I rely on other people’s eyes to help. Also, by explaining our teaching methods to parents, we increase our educating power to the students. SO, SPEAK UP!
Did you know that we have classes for ages 18-36 months? These are our Little Stars Classes and they are offered on Friday at 5:15 & Saturday at 10:00am. These are parent/child classes that prepare your little one for our Creative Dance Classes and Tumblebears. Little Stars Classes work on coordination, rhythm, balance and encourage taking turns and learning other valuable social skills. Is your Little Star dancing every time music comes on? Bring her/him in to try a FREE Class!
Did you know that we have Adult Classes? On Monday at 8:00pm we have Adult Hip Hop, Wednesday at 8:30 is Adult Tap, and Adult Ballet/Jazz is Thursday at 8:00. We also have Stretch & Conditioning on Wednesday at 4:00, Mexican Folklorico on Friday at 8:00, Yoga on Saturday at 9:00am, and Belly Dance on Sat at 10:00. Why let your kids have all the fun? Come try a class for FREE and see how much fun dance can be!
Starting with Level 1, we teach the students Character Dance in addition to classical ballet. Character Dance is performed in all the major ballets such as, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia and Nutcracker. Levels 1& 2 learn Hungarian dance, Levels 3&4 learn Russian dance, Levels 5&6 learn Polish Court dance, Level 7 learns Hungarian Court dance & Level 8 learns Russian Court. To teach these techniques properly, the students must have Character Skirts & Shoes. These need to be ordered by September 9TH so that we can begin teaching in October. If you have not ordered your skirt and shoes, please do so by the 9th. If you sew, we do have a pattern for the skirt that you can make yourself. The skirts we order are made very well and should last your child about 2 years. At that time, you can resell it before ordering a new one. Character shoes are $43.00 and Skirts are either $55 or $65 depending on the size needed.
Also, students in Grades 6-8 need to have a large white silk Free Movement Scarf. The cost for this is $38. This also MUST BE ORDERED BY SEPTEMBER 9TH.
If you or your child begins to study dance, I would suggest that a commitment be made for a certain length of time. I do not believe in making anyone take dance lessons, but I strongly feel that once one starts, the commitment should be followed through. Dancing can be difficult and fun at the same time. It will develop discipline determination and self confidence that are so necessary to succeed in life. Its rewards are not instantaneous. It takes patience, energy, and a positive outlook. These traits will not be developed if one “gives up”. Hang in there everybody. You’ll be glad you did when you look back and see your accomplishments.
We will be closed on Monday, September 4th for Labor Day. This is one of our yearly holidays, and the classes do not need to be made up. We are going to be open on Saturday, September 2nd.

August Newsletter 2017

Any time you recommend Leggz to a friend, and they register, you receive $10 off your next month’s tuition. However, during the month of August, for each friend that registers, you will receive $25 OFF YOUR TUITION! The more friends, the more money you can save!
Students must come to class in their proper leotard, tights and shoes to be admitted into class. This is for their safety and is part of the discipline of being a dancer. After all, you wouldn’t go to music lessons without your instrument or football practice without your helmet!
Is your character skirt too small? Are your character shoes pinching your feet? Well, bring them in and we will try to sell them to someone who needs them.
Students in levels 1-8 are required to have Character Skirts and Shoes for their classes. This is an important part of their ballet training. Character Dance is necessary for all the Classical Ballets, such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia and Nutcracker. We are the only studio in the area that teaches it! Students in Ballet 3 & above also need ribbons on their ballet slippers.
Students in Ballet 6-8 need a silk scarf ASAP. Without the scarf, they are unable to learn any of the Free Movement work. They also need a long chiffon skirt to match their leotard. Students in these levels may wear any color leotard they want. Please order your silk scarf by September 3rd.
Please be advised, that jewelry of any kind is not permitted in any of our classes. Students will be asked to remove it and we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen jewelry, so please leave it at home.
When your child is absent from a class, please call the studio and let us know. You can make it up by attending another class. When you do, please let the instructor know that your child is there to make up a class.
Please pick up any items that are still here. These include: RAD certificates, recital pictures, and recital items. Thanks.
As you may have noticed, our classes this year are going until 9:30pm. However, the office will only be open until 9. Please make all payments prior to 9pm. Thank you.
Why should the kids have all the fun? Time for you to take care of yourself, get into shape, and have fun doing it! We have Ballet/Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Yoga, Belly Dance, and Stretch & Conditioning, ALL FOR ADULTS! So, SIGN UP TODAY!

May Newsletter 2017

May 2017
All ballet slippers that need to be painted will be collected the week of May 8th – 13th and returned the following week. Make sure that your child’s name is written inside their dance shoes and that they have a pair of shoes to wear home. (Not all classes are having their shoes painted; that is up to each teacher, but names should still be placed in all shoes). If your shoes are not being painted, PLEASE CLEAN THEM with a magic eraser before picture day.
Picture Day is scheduled for Sunday, May 21, 2017. Photos will again be taken by Photography by Skip Stowers. (Schedules are attached.) Order forms are available at the desk. Having these filled out in advance will make your day move faster. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your child’s picture time. They should arrive ready to go, costume, hair, make-up. DONNA-THE FLOWER LADY will again be set up outside taking orders for bouquets for those who wish to order flowers for their children. NOTE: THERE ARE 6 CHURCHES IN OUR PLAZA! On Sundays, the place is packed! There is parking available behind our building and behind the buildings in the back. The churches are usually empty by 2pm.
April 30th is the last day that we will accept checks for anything pertaining to the 2016/17 dance season. Checks will be accepted for Summer & Fall Registration. (Checks are not accepted for Recital Tickets at any time).
We will have a MANDATORY meeting for all Backstage Volunteers on Saturday, May 20th, at 2:15pm at the studio. You will receive lots of information regarding the rehearsal and your duties during the recital. This will help reduce the confusion at the rehearsal and recital. Please be on time.
Please DO NOT be absent from now through recital. There are only a few weeks left and there is still much to learn. Valuable time is wasted going over steps there were taught the previous week. NOTE TO PARENTS: If you were in your child’s shoes, would you want to get on stage and dance in front of 1200 people if you didn’t know what you were doing? That’s what you are asking your child to do when you don’t bring them to class regularly.
When we line up for finale, do not get on the main stage with the rest of the students. Please line up on stage right in alphabetical order. We will introduce assistant teachers first. You will walk across the stage all together as I announce your name. You will walk and wave and leave the stage on stage left. Do not stop. Graduating seniors will walk on together, but you will stop on stage. I will introduce each of you and tell a little about your future plans.
I am going to say this here, and also in the Recital Packet that you will receive when you get your costumes. ANY STUDENTS FOUND BACKSTAGE OR IN THE BALCONY WITH A CELL PHONE WILL HAVE THAT PHONE CONFISCATED! Please do not bring your cell phones with you to the recital.
Please let Mrs. Seiter know if you want to assist again next year. Also, we need assistants for summer, so please sign up! We have many new students who would like to assist, and we would like to give them a chance if there are openings. If you don’t tell us that you want to assist, we will assume that you don’t. For those who want to be new assistants, please put in your request with Mrs. Seiter at the front desk. Make sure that you give us your email address. We will be contacting you via email. In order to be an assistant teacher, you must be in Ballet 3 or above and you must sign up to assist classes for the summer. This is when you will receive your training.
Recital DVDs are still available to be ordered and may also be ordered at the recital. They are $35 ($45 for Blu-ray), and may be ordered by calling 1-877-234-2266 or go to Diacom video will also have a table set up in the theatre lobby.
In the upcoming weeks, we will not only be working on recital dances, but we will be teaching your children about the proper way to behave in a theatre. In accordance with that, we are hoping that you will help us out by not trying to come backstage to collect your child during the show. As I am sure you already know, it is terribly rude to leave in the middle of a performance, and I know that you would not want to teach your child to do this. All of our students work very hard and each one of them deserves to perform before a full audience. I thank you in advance for helping us to teach your children this valuable lesson. Also, if you must get up during the show, please do so in between numbers so that the people behind you don’t miss any part of the show. Families must refrain from shouting out a student’s name during the show. We have instructed the students not to do this while they watch the show from the balcony. This is not a sporting event and shouting the students name is distracting and dangerous to the students and audience members alike. Also, please be respectful of other audience members by not standing during your child’s number. You do not know if the person behind you has a child in that number and would like to see it also. Thank you.
All student levels for next year should be in by May 15th. In order to maintain the student’s privacy, upon your request, I will email your child’s levels to you. You can email your request to me starting May 16th, to If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to talk to the teacher. She can tell you how your child is doing and what skills they need to work on. All students develop at a different rate and therefore do not automatically move to the next level each year. Some students who are not quite ready for the next level can sometimes make great improvements just by taking summer classes. Others may need more strength or maturity, and that just takes time. We all work hard to bring out the best in each child!
In order to make our FAMOUS 50/50 RECITAL RAFFLE even better, we are selling tickets now! Each year at the recital we give away over $200 to a lucky winner. Since this is our 29th year, let’s see if we can double that pot! Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $20. Your chances of winning are much better than any lottery!
If you are going into Ballet 4 or above next year, and would like to try out for Pointe class, please let Mrs. Wheeler know. She will be evaluating all the students soon.

April Newsletter 2017

April 2017
We only have approximately 7 more classes until the recital. Many students are frequently absent and this holds up the rest of the class while the absent child tries to catch up. This is frustrating for everyone. We have a recital ABSENTEE POLICY. If your child misses a total of 4 classes during the months of March, April and May, we have THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO LET YOUR CHILD PERFORM IN THE RECITAL. It is not fair to have a child dance in front of 1200 people when they don’t know what they are doing. Also, it takes away from the rest of the class because the dance does not look as good as it could. So, if you want your child to perform,,,DON’T LET HER/HIM BE ABSENT!
We still need volunteers for the recital. Without your help “the show can not go on”. The dancers are counting on your to help make this recital a success. We must have approximately 50 volunteers to make the show run smoothly. We could also use a few dads to help with props and/or security the night of the show. NOTE: Most volunteers will get to watch half of the show, and of course, you can always watch from the side of the stage when your child is performing. We would like to ask that you volunteer by May 1st so that we can list your name in our recital program. Also, I need someone to decorate the lobby during the rehearsal and also take it apart after intermission.
Don’t forget to submit your ads for our wonderful souvenir recital program! These ads are due April 22nd. What a wonderful way to promote your business or tell your child how much you appreciate all the hard work they put into their dancing!! Last year’s program is available for viewing to get ideas.
Tickets for the recital will be going on sale April 17th. The cost per ticket is $25.00. Everyone sitting in a seat needs a ticket regardless of age. (2 and under can sit on a lap.) Please refer to your ticket sheets for ticket sale procedure. We will only accept cash or credit cards when purchasing tickets.
Photos will be taken of the students in their recital costumes on Sunday, May 21, 2017 (schedule will follow). The photos will be taken by Photography by Skip Stowers. More information will be given as the date gets closer.
Please make sure that your children come prepared and READY TO DANCE. Precious time is being wasted fixing hair and removing jewelry. Ballet students MUST have their hair in a bun or similiar style that doesn’t allow the hair to move. ALL STUDENTS must have their hair up & held securely so that it doesn’t fall apart during class. Scrunchies DO NOT hold hair in place! Please make sure that they have all of their supplies when they come to class or they will be asked to sit and observe the class.
Don’t forget to order your Recital T-shirt! Orders are due by April 15th.
This year we have reserved 75 rooms, at the Rosen Centre Hotel, which is attached to the Orange County Convention Center. If you have more than one child in the recital, or your child is in many numbers, it is much more convenient to stay at the hotel rather than drive back and forth to the theater. We have reserved 25 rooms for Sunday and 50 rooms for Monday. The group rate is only $109 a night if you reserve by 5:00pm, Friday, April 28th. Reservations requests received after 5:00pm local time at the Hotel on the cut-off date will be accepted at Hotel’s prevailing rate, based on room type availability. You can make reservations by calling 1-800-204-7234 and request the group rate for Leggz Dance Recital.
Recital DVDs are $35.00, $45 for Blu-ray and may be ordered directly through Diacom Productions. Their number is 1-877-234-2266 or you may order them online at If you prefer to mail in your order, order forms are also available at the desk. JACKSON 5 MEDLEY” Rehearsal Dates

May 22 during the Jazz 4/5 class, Monday 8pm.
We are now in full recital mode. If your child needs to make up an absence in another class, please try to bring her/him to another class that is taught by the same teacher. Or, if the class is combined with another, please bring your child to that class. This will make it easier for the teacher to go over what your child missed and it will help them to catch up.
Take a look at the adorable PERSONALIZED Teddy Bear on the desk in the lobby. You can order one for your child for only $28.95. (Personalization is extra). There are eight different styles and colors to choose from. Or, if you got one last year, update it by just ordering a new outfit. This year, you may also order them with matching necklaces and bracelets! Deadline for ordering Recital Bears is May 1st. Your may order at the studio, online or by phone. (Please let us know when ordering if it is a surprise for your child, as we wouldn’t want to spoil it.) What a wonderful recital keepsake!
I would like to invite all of our Kindergarten students, and their parents, to attend and observe one or more of our classes during the week of April 3rd-8th. Any child who is going into 1st grade next year is now eligible to take Ballet, Tap and/or Jazz. Deciding which to study is sometimes a difficult decision for both children and parents. By watching a class in April, it will help you make a decision for Summer and/or Fall classes.
Any student who is in a class that is combined with another class should check with their instructor as to when to start attending the other class. Most students should be attending their combined classes as often as they can by now. There is no extra charge for the extra class, but it is important to attend in order to get used to working with the other students in the class.
Just a reminder of our studio policy. If your child is currently in Hip Hop 1 and is recommended for Hip Hop 2 next year then she/he will have to take a 2nd class in either Ballet, Jazz or Modern. Hip Hop derives a lot of its steps from those classes, and having a knowledge of them will help them to succeed in Hip Hop 2. If your child is currently in Jazz 2 is selected to move up to level 3, then they must also take Ballet. It is impossible to succeed in the upper Jazz levels without Ballet training. Not every student moves up a level each year because all children learn and develop at the different pace, but if your child is chosen for Hip Hop 2 or Jazz 3 please start thinking about their additional class for the fall.
We will be open on April 14th and 15th, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.
Summertime is a great time to improve your dance education. Students who are having difficulty keeping up can improve their skills and those who want to get ahead can sometimes “skip” a level because they took class during the summer. Intermediate and Advanced level students should definitely take summer classes so they don’t regress. Every month you don’t dance takes two months to regain your strength, stretch, stamina, balance and technique. So, by not taking summer classes, it will take you until December 2017 to get back to the same level you are at now.
The summer schedule is available now, and unlike during the year, we will prorate the tuition if you know you will miss a class or two due to vacation.
All students in Ballet 4 and above are required to take Ballet Tech 1 in addition to your grade class. The requirements that need to be fulfilled to progress can not be done taking only 1 Ballet class a week. (It is requested that students in Ballet 3 also take Tech 1 to increase their progress.) If you are not already in Pointe class, are in Ballet 3 and above, and are interested in taking Pointe for the 2017/18 Dance Season, then Mrs. Wheeler will test you during the Ballet 3 class. If you are chosen for the Pointe class, you will be notified in writing during the summer. Please keep in mind that when you take Pointe, you must also take your regular Ballet class and a Ballet Tech class. In addition, your parents must be prepared to purchase at least 2 pairs of Pointe shoes each year at a cost of approximately $85.00.

March Newsletter 2017

March 2017
This year our Recital will be on Monday, May 29, 2017 and begin at 5:00pm. Rehearsal will be the same day and will start at 8:00am. Students only need to be there for the rehearsal of their dance(s), (schedule will follow later.) In order to be in the Recital, performing students are required to attend the Rehearsal. NO PHOTOS OR VIDEO TAPING MAY BE TAKEN DURING THE RECITAL. STILL PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOTAPING MAY BE DONE AT THE REHEARSAL ONLY.
Here is a brief summary, for those of you who are new to the recital. We will be on a very tight schedule. We start at 6:00am unloading and setting up equipment. This takes about 2 hours. Rehearsal begins at 8am and goes until 3:00. We take a break until 4:00 which is when everyone is required to be at the theatre, and the show starts at 5:00. The recital runs 4 hours, which is pretty amazing since we have about 55 dances in the show. This includes a 20 min intermission, trophies and finale. In order to shorten the show, we have combined many classes.
Volunteers are needed to help backstage for the recital. At this time, I still need people to help look after the students while they are backstage. Creative, Tumblebear & Hippity Hop classes need 2 parents per dance to volunteer. If you would like to be in charge of your child’s class, you must request that. If we already have enough parents for that class, you will be assigned another one. At this point, we cannot guarantee that you will be in the same room as your child, but we will do our best to accommodate you. Also, if you help backstage you will still see at least half of the show without having to buy a ticket, and you will see your child’s dance. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST ATTEND THE VOLUNTEER MEETING WHICH IS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, MAY 20th at 2:15pm.
Please be respectful to your teacher, classmates, and your body by attending class and getting to class on time. We have had quite a few absences lately. Your attendance is very important because dance is built from a foundation such as language or math. It is quite frustrating to “pick it up” without the necessary basics and it is unrealistic to think your body will stay in shape without being in class regularly. We are working on routines for the recital and it is difficult to choreograph and teach dances without everyone present. ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE ABSENT 4 TIMES TOTAL DURING THE MONTHS OF MARCH, APRIL AND MAY, YOU MAY BE TOLD THAT YOU CANNOT BE IN THE RECITAL!! IT IS NOT FAIR TO THE CLASS OR TO YOUR CHILD TO PUT THEM ON STAGE WHEN THEY DO NOT KNOW THE DANCE!! Note: If you are in Ballet 1-8, due to the Ballet Exams, you will only be starting your recital dance after March 25th. All dances must be completed by May 1st. That means we only have 4 classes to learn the entire dance, so DON’T BE ABSENT!!
Photos will be taken of the students in their recital costumes on Sunday, May 21, 2017 (schedule will follow). The photos will be taken by Photography by Skip Stowers.
Flash drives of the recital music for each dance will be available for home practice at the end of February. This is a wonderful tool for the students so they can perfect their recital dances. The Flash Drives are $8.00 for the first song, $2 for each additional song, payable in advance, and may be ordered at the desk. As a bonus, if you only use your flash drive for Recital Music, you may reuse it next year!
We will be closed for Spring Break from March 12th- 19th. These classes do not need to be made up; they are figured into our yearly dance session. For the remainder of the school year, there are no other days that we will be closed. We WILL be open for class on Saturday, March 11th. (Make sure to download our APP so that you ALWAYS know what’s going on!)
This is the last call for students who have been with us 5 years or longer. We must order trophies for the recital and are not responsible if you fail to notify us. Please email our receptionist, Mrs. Seiter, at by March 11th. Please include your child’s first and last name and the number of years at the studio. We must have your request via email. If a trophy is not ordered because a parent forgot to notify us, then the parent will have to pay for their child’s trophy.
We are now in full recital mode. If your child needs to make up an absence in another class, please try to bring her/him to another class that is taught by the same teacher. This will make it easier for them to go over what your child missed and it will help them to catch up.
The cost for a Commemorative Recital DVD is $35 ($40 for Blu-ray). However, if you order your copy by March 31st, the cost will only be $25 ($30 for Blu-ray)! You may place your order at http://www.diacomproductions.comor by calling 1-877-234-2266. Don’t miss out! (Order forms will be available soon.)
When you signed the recital agreement, one of the statements that you agreed to read, “All students are required to stay for the entire length of the recital”. Parents of students ages 3 through Kindergarten, you do have another option. You may purchase a half price ticket for your child ($12.50) and then they may sit with you during Act 2 of the recital. (This includes all Creative Dance & Tumblebear students and a portion of the Hippity Hop students.) This ticket must be purchased 2 weeks prior to the recital (May 13th). If you decide not to purchase a half price ticket for your child, (or try to purchase one after May 13th), your child will then sit in the balcony with our wonderful volunteers during Act 2. If you try to get your child without having purchased the half price ticket, you will forfeit your $50 recital fee. In order to continue to run a very organized recital, by May 13th , we must have a list of our students who are being picked up by their parents. They will have special markings on their wristbands, and will be escorted to a designated area to be picked up by a parent with the matching wristband. In order to find a student who is not on that list, we have to stop the show and that is just not possible. If your student remains with the volunteers for Act 2, please be assured that your child will be fine in the balcony. (In 29 years, we have never had a problem.) If your child is ill or upset, WE WILL FIND YOU. Otherwise, they are comfortable and enjoying the 2nd half of the show. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to talk to me. We want both of you to have a great show!
This month we are celebrating some of the businesses that our clients own. I sent out an email telling parents to send me information about a business that they own, so that I can get the word out to all of you! I can’t endorse a business, unless I have used their service or product, but if they are smart enough to bring their child to Leggz, then I would say that their business would be worth patronizing!
